The Right Vacuum Cleaner Information

By Steve Jenkins

You should do the proper research and pick the right vacuum cleaner for the job at hand.

Deep cleaning vacuums have many features. These types of vacuums have rotating brushes that agitate the carpet pile and loosen the dirt for a more through cleaning. There are some models that offer a handy automatic tool conversion button or switch that you can push or flip as you move from carpet to hardwood floor.

Hand held vacuums are light weight, can be corded or cordless, and you can even mount most of them on the wall if you prefer. The performance of the cordless models will depend on the charge of the battery, as the battery power drops, so will the suction power.

The two types of hand held vacuums include straight suction and suction with a power brush. If you are considering a hand held vacuum cleaner, you should consider its primary purpose, if you plan to use it on a regular basis or occasionally on smaller jobs.

Stick or broom vacuums are excellent for smaller apartments, quick clean ups in the kitchen, or a family room. The benefit of a broom vacuum is the ultra light weight. If you have trouble pushing your heavier upright around, the broom vacuum may come as a relief. You'll also have the option of getting your vacuum corded or cordless.

They usually weight 2 - 7 lbs. and allow you to easily store them in the closet, as they take up a minimum amount of space. For quick disposal of the dirt and debris, most models are also bagless as well.

The wet/dry vacuum combination may be the most versatile vacuum cleaner on the market today, with many attachments and functions it is a very handy machine to have around your home. The canister types can vary from the smaller 6 gallon sizes to the larger 22 gallon sizes.

The HP ranges as well, from 2 to 10 HP. You should always try to match the size of the unit to the size of the job and frequency of use.

One of the most popular features of an upright vacuum cleaner is the bagless system. In addition to the increased performance, there is no need to purchase any bags. Emptying the canister can be a little dusty, although it's still better than messing with bags.

Most upright models come with a standard set of attachments that may even include an upholstery tool, a crevice tool, and even an extension wand. A retractable cord and manual or automatic pile adjustments are other features. A HEPA filter is another popular feature found with most upright vacuums.

Canister vacuum cleaners normally include retractable cords. Considering the fact that most cords are around 25 foot in length, this feature will prevent you from having to drag the cord around and possibly damage furniture. A mere push of a button or a slight tug on the cord will retract it into the canister of the vacuum for storage.

The nozzle can be one of two types, nozzle or power nozzle. To get your carpet as clean as possible you should use the power nozzle, which will agitate the carpet and loosen up the dirt for deeper cleaning.

Another feature worth looking for is a suction control switch, this will allow you to adjust the flow of air for cleaning delicate material such as upholstery and drapery.

The Mystery Of Bagged Versus Bagless

By Sally Wright

The controversy of bagged versus bagless continues on. With most things in life, there is really nothing free. The two most claimed advantages to bagless vacuums were lower operating costs and better performance. As far as the cost issues go, all vacuums must filter the exhausting air they use to carry the dirt into the collection area, as they would otherwise simply pick the dirt up from the floor and spit it right back out.

Whether you have a bagless HEPA filter, a pre-filter, or disposable bags, they all need to be changed at some point. Consider the average life of a vacuum cleaner, you can expect to spend the same on either of the collection system for filters, but if you value your time, you can expect to spend more on a bagless system.

To keep your bagless vacuum cleaner operating at peak levels, you'll need to empty the dirt container when it is full and perform regular maintenance on the filter. The kind of filter the vacuum uses will determine just how much service will be needed, although most use a pleated HEPA filter.

Even though the claim of better airflow performance with bagless vacuums is true in a sense, over the life of the vacuum you'll get the same, or maybe even better performance from a bagged vacuum cleaner system.

With bagged vacuum cleaners, the performance will begin at 100% with each new bag then drop as the bag starts to fill up. How quickly the performance drops depends on how well the bag is made. With the average vacuum and the average bag, you may replace the bag every 3 - 4 weeks with 90% of performance the first week, 70% in weeks 2 and 3, then 50% of less in the fourth week.

The cycle will insure that you get a 100% peak cleaning every 3 or 4 weeks from the vacuum cleaner. The filtered cyclonic machines have filters that are designed to last 6 months, 12 months, and up to 18 months before they need to be replaced.

Pets If you have dogs or cats, whether you see it or not, all domestic animals shed their fur on a regular basis throughout their lives. Pet owners wonder as well, which vacuum is the best to remove pet hair.

For pretty much the same reasons that fur sticks to the carpet, it will also stick to your bagless vacuum's pleated filter cartridge. The fur will reduce the performance of airflow, and is also a pain in the neck to clean off the filter.

Over time, the fiber that makes up the filter can retain odor from pets, even if you clean the filter well. If your filter requires replacing only once a year, you could end up with a vacuum that spits odors that will stink up your house pretty bad.

Those vacuums that use bags will often provide for neat disposal of a full bag. There are some brands such as BOSCH that actually engineer bag disposal into the system. With BOSCH canister vacuums, the replacement of bags is a single dust free step. The new mega built bags have a built in closure system that upon removal, will slide shut and trap the dirt and debris inside of the bag, making removal quick and easy.

Still, there are many people out there who love bagless machines. Bagless vacuums will continue at a slow place to gain market share, and people will continue to buy them. For many, a bagless vacuum can be the right vacuum to have.

Hands On Review Of The Popular Suunto Elementum Aqua Wristop Computer.

By Jack Russel

The Suunto Elementum Aqua arrived in a discrete black cube, with merely one word crafted on: "SUUNTO." The one I received has black case, black rubber band, and positive face. The black case is stainless steel 316L, the common "marine grade stainless steel," and is really sophisticated. From some distance it could look like a stylish black G-Shock watch.

Actually a coworker of mine made precisely this remark; nevertheless a close look shows its originality. The 41mm bezel has 8 hex screws and its combination with the sapphire glass as well as the curved case remind me of the viewing port of an atmospheric scuba diving suit. In fact I do think that here is the most incredible feature of the watch, despite the fact that it appears like the bezel of a UTS model, the execution by Suunto seems terrific.

Another one of a kind characteristic of the watch is the enormous crown pusher at two o' clock, the one feature that is shared among all the Elementum gadgets.

Being larger than the simple pusher at 3 o' clock, it really stands apart, incorporating an additional touch of various design culture. The crystal has yellow circular and linear markings that define the measurements taken under water. Both yellow lines help to notify about the current and maximum depth, and the dive time, while the circular marking may be the analogue temperature scale.

Suunto Elementum Aqua operates in 2 modes: TIME and DIVE mode. The time function is easy to understand, the hour and the mins are placed at the middle of the display screen, while at the end of the display the date is discovered. Don't ask about the reading of seconds, the main display lacks it, despite the empty top part of the display which could give you the best space for this reading. The reason behind this omission could be a shot to prevent the refreshing of the display every second and save some battery. The setup of the time requires pressing the crown for a few seconds. Then the time, date, and alarm setup is rather effortless by screwing the crown clockwise or anti-clockwise. Yet another helpful function of the watch is a button lock function, which can be activated by pressing the two pushers at the same time. Additionally, by pressing the middle pusher firmly in any mode, the backlight is triggered.

First Impressions About The Excellent Rugged Timepiece Suunto Vector.

By Maro Dango

If you are an devoted open-air person, no matter whether you are into hiking, climbing or perhaps a frequent fisherman, you only shouldn't set off without a device such as Suunto Vector.

To start it features a remarkably precise digital altimeter, that of course demands regular calibration, but so long as you monitor just what it says, you need to have no difficulties maintaining on specifically where you stand above or below sea level. Next is the one other broadly under-used tool, a digital barometer.

Guaranteed it may look a little overwhelming at the beginning, but commit a couple of minutes directly reading through the instruction manual, and you should have it down pretty quickly. I probably would not state you could potentially bet your health on the precision of the barometer, however it is a whole lot closer to guessing the true weather conditions than any meteorologist I've ever stumbled upon. I would say ıt had been around 80% suitable When was the last time you could say that regarding the local weatherman? Furthermore, the barometer features a built-in thermometer. Now yet again, for a absolutely correct temperature reading you have to take the watch off your wrist for approximately 15 minutes first, and as far as I am aware, all timepieces which include this functionality should be carried out exactly the same, thus bear that in mind before you look at your watch and announce it's 90 degrees when it is more likely 75.

Finally the last nice gizmo crammed into this watch is a remarkably precise digital compass. As soon as calibrated this compass provides fantastic help, specifically for the serious backpackers out there who depend on map reading in not familiar place.

I nearly forgot, furthermore, it can tell the time! It comes with an alarm and also a stop-watch. One more thing, the different colors you could find the Vector make it as much an accessory to your trekking outfit as an invaluable instrument necessary for a safe trek.

Overview of the Suunto Elementum Terra, The Stylish Wristop Computer Timepiece

By Steve Burgenson

Suunto Elementum Terra comes in a good, hefty, coated card board container, which is perfectly lined. In the package is a manual, a plastic material guarantee card, along with a polishing/cleaning cloth.

My initial impression was that the watch was heavier, but small compared to my Suunto Vector and Suunto Core. It does feel a tad thicker however. It's actually a very great, dressy watch. After getting it on, it doesn't come across as too hefty. It's got an excellent weight to it.

Case and Crystal: The case uses stainless steel, with a matte/satin finish to it. It appears very properly built, and extremely durable. You will find three buttons on the right hand side, that all move very nicely. Firm, however with no click. The top button is a scroll wheel, for scrolling through menus and making adjustments. I wish my Suunto Core had one. The scroller also goes easily, with confirmation clicks. The case is water resistant to 100m (~300 feet) and according to the manual, the buttons May be pressed underwater. The Terra face is a flat, sapphire crystal, which also has an anti-glare coating on it.The buttons seem to stand out a lttle bit, however in practice they just don't get in the way, or pressed by accident.

Strap: It come with several different bands, leather, stainless, or rubber. My own came with a great black leather band. It has some white stitching around the edge of it, that actually sets it off beautifully. The band is quite thick and tough, but is still comfortable to wear.

Display: The Terra I got has a positive display, which i prefer It's also available with a negative display, for individuals who like that better. It runs on the classical segment display for numbers, like the Suunto Vector. Thus, it won't plot out any charts/graphs of the elevation or air pressure like the Suunto Core does. The backlight is very bright. Much better than I've ever seen on any other Suunto watch.

Functions: Suunto has not surprisingly kept the functions to a bare minimum. I'm fairly certain that's simply because it really is intended to be a luxury dress watch. It's actually something to wear to the business office or a party, but will still perform out in the wild, although not as well as the Core. The Terra only has a couple of modes, Time/Altimeter and Compass. The primary display of the Terra shows a lot of information. In the top row, you get the current height, the middle row provides you with the time, and the bottom row shows the day. At the top of the screen, you receive the pressure pattern arrows, and around the perimeter you receive the sea-level barometric pressure. The face area of the Terra does not have a rotatable bezel like the Vector or Core. Instead, a circular graph is present for reading the Sea-Level barometric pressure.

Is The Sennheiser HD 595 All Hype?

By Nathan Voegele

Many headphones today look really good. Their design on the outside is top notch. However, some very vital things are missing on the inside. So while they look really cool and will impress your friends, they will sound terrible and not give you the pleasure that well designed (all round) headphones like the Sennheiser HD 595 headphones can.

These are the perfect headphones for music, gaming or watching movies. They can handle the volumes needed for watching movies, the detail for music and they have the comfort for games. It even comes with a mini TRS jack for your iPhone. Many headphones have the annoying tendency to get harsh or scratchy at higher volumes. Well not these. The 595's handle it with an effortless ease. Even though they were only launched a few years ago, they have already developed a massive user and fan base totally dedicated to them. Pretty impressive.

While it is made of plastic, you can easily tell that it's extremely high-quality and will last a long time. These headphones have speed and help convey the emotion in music really, really well. Although a batch of the 595's were said to the somewhat faulty (this was widely noted) the good news is that it has been totally fixed for the last year or so.

The sound is amazingly detailed and puts you right in the action or amongst the musicians playing. Sennheiser is also very good with providing replacement parts for these which makes sense since they are such a great seller. So there is no need to worry about having a great pair of headphones that are falling apart.

The biggest strength of these headphones, apart their sheer comfort, is their ability to play live music that has been well recorded. Some good examples would be the live Eagles CD's or DVD's. You will feel like you are right in the audience. Gamers have also noted that they are really good for games too. This makes sense seeing as though they are so amazingly comfortable and gamers will play games for almost days on end. The HD 595 headphones are highly recommended.

Buying Guide - Headphones Types

By Max Gelman

Many people have problems when t comes to shopping for a good pair of headphones. Do they buy wireless, closed, circumaural, earbud style? And what about sound quality? These are all questions which are asked all the time but not easily answered.

Well first I'll outline the big, normal style headphones. If you're a serious music listener or movie buff then I would recommend an open style headphones like the Sennheiser HD595 headphones. These have amazing sound quality but at the expense of isolation unfortunately. If you have a loved one or child that must not be disturbed then closed would be a better option though. However, the bass level is usually a lot higher with these and not as accurate either. It's what people refer to as hyped bass.

Another exceptionally popular style is the earbud headphones. These are great for work, the train, your iPod, iPhone etc. Any pair by Shure is generally quite good but if you're looking for quality, then Klipsch is the best. They do take a while to get used to since they sit quite deep in your ear but other than that they are just great.

Surround headphones are really popular with gamers and movie-philes. While they don't provide an experience on par with a good cinema, they are still excellent none the less. This is also a great alternative to a traditional surround system if you have neighbor issues or live with someone that needs to study. The surround sound on headphones can be very convincing however not all are created equal so be sure to test a few.

Wireless headphones: These are great for active people who like to listen to music while they work out, run, do sports, climb mountains or whatever they like. The lack of wires makes it a very liberating experience.

DJ headphones are a special breed. These are designed for only a few things. To not let sound in or out, to last a long time and to have good bass. However, sound quality on these is never high on the list of priorities so if that's your thing, look elsewhere.

For people who need silence: Noise cancelling headphones are the answer. These use sophisticated noise reduction technology developed in jets to erase al the external noise and only let the music be heard. While this technology is amazing and very effective, be warned that some models can affect sound quality quite a bit so some demo sessions will definitely be in order. If you are a commuter, train driver, factory worker or machine operator then these are what you need.

This is pretty much everything you need to shop for your new headphones with confidence. Get out there, get listening and good luck.

3 Things About The Sennheiser HD595 Headphones

By Dan Perkinson

The 3 things I most highly rate in a pair of headphones is:

1. Audio Quality

2. Ergonomics

3. Design

Thankfully when shopping for new headphones, the Sennheiser HD 595 headphones seemed to pop up everywhere. People on many forums are talking about them, reviewing them and buying them. The feedback is overwhelmingly positive too. Everyone just loves their sound quality and detail.

It has a transparent vibe with a very balanced spectrum overall. You really get a sense of the personality or texture of the source you're listening to. While the HD595 headphones are a mid-level model of the Sennheiser range, they can easily compete with the ultra high end models from other brands.

Some have criticized them as being bass-light. While this is true in some cases one could also view the majority of headphones today as bass heavy so it really depends on what you're comparing them to. Also, an easy remedy to this issue, even though it is very slight, is to pair the HD 595's with a good headphone amp. This extends and beefs up the low end somewhat. Of course the other option is a good equalizer.

The other major strength of these cans is their amazing comfort. They are ultra light, an open design, really big and don't clamp very hard on your head. The headband and ear-cups have a nice, soft velour finish which prevents pressure spots and keeps you cool. As opposed to that pleather stuff which makes you sweat. All of this makes for an extremely pleasant experience especially during long listening sessions.

The aesthetics of these cans are awesome too. The metal grille, the silver panels and the black frame lend a smooth and refined look without being tasteless or overbearing to the eye. These are the best open design, headphones under $400 in the world right now. I highly recommend the Sennheiser HD 595 headphones if sound, quality and extreme comfort are important to you. Get them right away.

Strengths And Weaknesses - Sennheiser HD595

By Steven Finneran

The Sennheiser HD595 headphones will let you know exactly what is wrong with a recording immediately. These are not forgiving headphones by any stretch of the imagination. If the production is bad, you will know about it. Having said that, they are really great on female vocals and piano music. The bass is tight, deep but slightly reserved while the mids are are sweet and clean.

These headphones work great with good quality equipment such as headphone amps, cables, CD players etc. I have a feeling these would not play well with tube equipment though. The highs are exciting and makes acoustic music very vivid. The sound stage is nice and wide while not being unrealistic.

These gives a very nice, speaker like stereo image as opposed to the traditional in-your-head headphone experience. The lows and can definitely be helped with a decent headphone amp. This seems to balance the sound out somewhat.

The best part about the 595's is the complete lack of head clamping from the headband or ear cups. This makes these extremely comfortable unlike many other brands such as Grado's. The Sennheiser HD 595 headphones sound great with any source, style of music or format.

While I would recommend Grado headphones for classical music fans, I would suggest these for almost any other style. They are cheaper, just as good and work with a wider variety of sources. The price of these is less than some downright mediocre headphones so seeing as their performance is so high, it makes these a steal.

If there are any weaknesses in these headphones (and there aren't really) I would have to get really picky and say the bass could be a little louder and the overall feel of the sound a bit less rough. However, having said that, a good headphone amp will sort that out and give it a flatter, wider sound which is always welcome. This wouldn't be a review if I didn't list the bad points so there you are.

Sennheiser HD 595 Headphones - Design Features

By Al Slaybaugh

Sennheiser really pioneered a new type of driver design with their HD range. Instead of having the drivers angled perpendicular to your ears, these are positioned higher up and face at a downward angle to deliver the sound straight into your ear canal. Traditional headphones have always just thrown sound at your ear with no regards to their basic anatomy. The end result is a much cleaner and tighter sound.

Some other great technologies are the Duofol drivers. These eliminate the standing waves that cause so much loss of low end punch and vibrancy. Ultra lightweight voice coils are used to ensure snappy transients and a huge dynamic range. While these amy not be the bassiest headphones in the world, the bass you do get is amazing. It's deep, earthy and alive. If you feel a healthy bass boost is in order, then pair these cans with a good quality equalizer and/or headphones amp. While I would not call these headphones thin-sounding these two will even them out a bit for all you bass addicts out there.

Impressively the response for these headphones is from around 10 to 40k hertz. This beats the human ear itself which can only detect sounds between 20 and 20k. Pretty amazing. Another great thing about these is that they come with a little hanger to keep them at arms reach. If however you do find your phones getting beaten up and worn relatively quickly, then rest assured because Sennheiser still makes all their spare parts.

Since these are open style headphones, expect a lot of bleed from them. This is simply the price to pay for such great sound. You see, closed type headphones can never deliver the level of dynamics and fidelity that open headphones can deliver. It comes down to physics at the end of the day. The amazingly light and brilliant open design, makes these an experience in themselves.

Sennheiser really hit it out of the park with the HD 595 headphones. These are top quality, high end and affordable headphones that will last along time and bring you years of fun and relaxation. The design, technology and features make the HD 595's perfect for classical and jazz fans or anyone seeking more good quality sound in their lives. Highly recommended. This is a great gift too by the way.

Best Carpet Steam Cleaner Practices Everyone Should Use

By Tasha Kirk

Nothing gives one a bigger headache or one a greater eyes ore, than stains on a perfectly clean carpet. It seems that even with regular carpeting and carpet entry rules, the inevitable stain and dirty patch will make its way in. Even though you may have the best carpet steam cleaner for pets for this, it must be augmented with good steam cleaner practices.

The location of a carpeted area will determine the propensity for soiling. Light traffic areas will of course get lesser deep dirt than heavy traffic areas and may require only a carpet steaming once or twice a year. Heavier traffic areas may in fact need steaming once or twice every three months. In determining how heavy or light a carpet area is prone to traffic, also include the animal feet traffic as well.

Those concerned about upkeep and cleaning of carpets may even have a regular vacuuming schedule, but in the long run, a carpet steamer still cannot be beat. It can probe down and extract much deeper than a regular vacuum. This ensures a more thorough cleaning.

Apart from this being the best machine to clean your carpet, having some good habits hand in hand with its use will give you maximum results. For one, you must wear something loose and light for definitely you will sweat. Not wearing any footwear at all is a must, but it is recommended that you do wear white socks. The socks will keep you body oil from mixing with chemicals in the cleaning process which can create a stain in some instances on the carpet. Do not wear colored socks as the dye of the socks may transfer itself to the carpet during cleaning.

A next good practice is to clear out the area to be cleaned. Relocate everything found inside which can hinder your cleaning. Likewise make a mental sketch of how you will move through the area to be as efficient as possible from beginning to the end.

Good ventilation and air circulation is a must in steam cleaning. Since the steam will make the carpet damp, it is good that you have good ventilation to ensure shorter drying times. Increase air circulation and ventilation by opening windows. If no windows are around, open all exits and provide air circulators or electric fans in the area.

Once cleaning has started, make sure that you work your way from the inner part of the room to the exit. This will make you avoid stepping on cleaned areas while you work. If at times that you may need to step on the cleaned areas, make sure you have newspapers on hand to step on.

The Innovative Dyson DC15 Program

By Wayne Allen

Most of today's vacuum cleaners use the standard four wheel design. This results in a basic back and forth movement. Very hard to get around corners and can make some crevices impossible.

The Dyson DC15 upright vacuum uses a large ball for maneuverability. This design allows the Dyson DC15 to pivot and roll with simple ease. Allowing it to travel where most other vacuums have a very hard time reaching. With a simple movement of the wrist the Dyson DC15 can be guided easily.

In addition to being one of the easiest vacuums to use the Dyson DC15 also has a very interesting filtration system. Dyson vacuum cleaners do not use filters in the same way that most vacuums cleaners do.

The Dyson DC15 sucks the air and dirt into a container where an outer cyclone removes large particles. Food, Hair and fibers are removed during this part of the process. The air is then moved to an inner cyclone where it is spun with a greater velocity to remove fine particles of dust from the air.

After the inner cyclone the air is moved through a washable inner foam pre-filter where the particles will remain trapped. This feature allows dirt to be trapped in the machine and out of the motor.

The final stage of the process is a trip through the HEPA filter. The Dyson DC15 has a very strict filtration system that will prevent most of the bacteria and mold from staying in your home. The vacuum cleaner is designed to keep dirt and debris inside the machine where it belongs.

They may not be known but Dyson vacuums have been around for many years. They may not be as well known as some of the large names in the industry, but they offer performance and quality with their vacuum cleaners. Dyson strives to improve their design with each new product release.

The Dyson DC15 is a fantastic vacuum to hit the market. It uses an innovative ball design that no other company uses. The Dyson vacuums are also very well known for their suction capabilities and the attachments.
